Illinois Bill Proposes Ban to Google Glasses while Driving

No texting while driving. No talking on cell phones without a hands free device. Illinois drivers already getting more citations since the distracted driving laws got tougher this year.

But at least one lawmaker wants to also ban products like Google Glasses, at least while someone's behind the wheel.

A bill was introduced into the Illinois legislature that would keep drivers from using computer headsets. Several other states are looking at creating similar laws. None are on the books just yet.

The Chicago lawmaker who introduced the measure says he's all for technology but not when it interferes with personal safety.

Google stands by its product and even went to Springfield this week to show legislators how it works.

Right now the bill is in committee and hasn't advanced in either House. If it passes, drivers would only be able to use the headsets while parked on the side of the road.
