Indiana House Passes Same-Sex Marriage Amendment

The proposed constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage in Indiana is on its way to the Senate.
The proposed constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage in Indiana is on its way to the Senate. The House voted 57-40 in favor of the resolution.

This comes after the House voted Monday to delete a portion of the proposal that would also ban same sex civil unions.

If the Senate approves the bill as it stands, the earliest the resolution could appear on a state-wide referendum would be in 2015. If the Senate puts the ban on civil unions back in the bill, it would have to return to the House for another vote.
