State officials announced today they are joining 11 other states in a lawsuit filed against the EPA's recently proposed carbon dioxide regulations.

The federal agency announced in June tougher regulations for coal-fired power plants to reduce carbon emissions by 30 percent by 2030.

The lawsuit claims the EPA does not have the legal authority to regulate existing sources of air pollution.

Kentucky is also listed in the lawsuit.
