Kelly Mitchell Files Candidacy for Indiana State Treasurer

Kelly Mitchell has spent the last six years working in the Treasurer's Office. Now she wants the title role.
A second Republican officially files paperwork to run for Indiana State Treasurer.

Kelly Mitchell has spent the last six years working in the Treasurer's Office. Now she wants the title role.

She graduated from Valparasio studying Political Science and has former experience in politics serving as the Cass County Commissioner. Mitchell says she wants to expand the officer in a number of areas, even adding an internship program.

"I know we will learn from the interns we bring in," said Mitchell. "I hope we teach them as much as I know they'll bring to us. But I get really excited showing the next generation the opportunities that are available to them in public finance and political science and a life in public service in particular."

Marion Mayor Wayne Seybold has already filed for the office.  Financial Adviser Don Bates is also expected to seek the Republican nomination. The GOP Nominating Convention is in June.
