KWC vs. USI Rivalry On Hold

The Panthers and Screaming Eagles will not play in 2014-15.
Every year from 1976 until now the USI Screaming Eagles and the Panthers of Kentucky Wesleyan College have squared off on the basketball court. That streak is officially snapped.

It was announced Thursday the USI vs. KWC rivalry will not be renewed in the 2014-15 season.  KWC leads the series 49-40, but USI has won the last four including two victories last season.

"Let me make this really clear. We want to play," says KWC head coach Happy Osborne.  "I mean we would move a game to play this year, we'll play next year. We'd like to play twice, we'll play once. We need to play teams in the GLVC. You know, this rivalry has been forever. There's a lot of expenses involved in Division II basketball. We're talking about driving what? Sixty miles. You know, we can be there in less than an hour."

USI will open its schedule with an exhibition game against Dayton, with its first regular season matchup against Davis & Elkins of the G-MAC.
