Indiana senators should soon decide on reforms for day cares that accept taxpayer-funded vouchers. The bill that passed a senate committee this morning was a stripped-down version.
It includes rules on how many children can be in day cares, how many staff members are needed according to the number of children, and having staff get ongoing training.
What's out of this bill is requiring a daily learning and development plan, food nutrition guidelines, and ensure safety levels at the facility.
The Indianapolis Star reports at least 23 children have died in Indiana day cares since 2009.
