Folks who live near S. Boeke Rd. came out for a ribbon cutting  of new playground equipment at Lorraine Park.

Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke, City Council members,  and the Evansville Police and Fire Departments were on hand for the ceremony.

The event included food, music, and games fit for the whole family.

"It's really a thrill to see the children taking advantage of it," said Lorraine Neighborhood Association President Delores Mason. "I've been in the park all afternoon, and there has been children on it from the time I got here."

The Neighborhood Association president says the new playground equipment is just the first piece of the puzzle. Right now, they're selling gray bricks to raise money to buy even more equipment for the park. Bricks purchased during the fundraiser will be used to build a "walk of pride."
