Madisonville Fire Department Receives Federal Grant

The Madisonville Fire Department has a million reasons to be thankful today.
The Madisonville Fire Department has a million reasons to be thankful today. Congressman Ed Whitfield presented a FEMA grant to the department for $1 million.

The money will let the department buy a new 100 foot ladder truck. It replaces the current 27 year old truck.

"We've been applying for a truck like this for five years," said Chief Steven Soltz, "and really didn't hold out much hope for getting one. We finally joined in with other departments, including rest of the fire departments in the county, as a regional grant. That's when we were able to acquire the grant."

Madisonville fire officials say this is one of the larger grants issued by FEMA.
