McLean Co. Receives Funding for Major Water Project

A major McLean County water project five years in the making is one step closer to reality.
A major McLean County water project five years in the making is one step closer to reality.

Federal and state officials announced more than $8 million for the McLean County Regional Water System. The project includes a new water treatment plant in Calhoun and the combining of several water systems across the county.

This is one of more than a hundred projects to get funding on Earth Day. Officials say the project will help residents

"We're driven by somebody else to control our pricing," said Sacramento Mayor Betty Howard. "By doing this, we can hope to lower water rates for all of McLean County."

Officials say they hope to start construction on the new treatment plant later this year.
