Memorial Looks to Overcome Lack of Two-a-Days

The parochial school calendar starts Tuesday, which means Memorial will have fewer snaps in preseason practice.
The Memorial Tigers are looking to improve on a couple of injury-plagued disappointing seasons. John Hurley's squad does have, however, 20 returning seniors. Many of those players are at skill positions like quarterback Will Durcholz and star running back McKinley Warren.

Warren finished the 2013 season with 960 yards rushing and six touchdowns, adding another five scores via reception.  Hurley says the Tigers have a lot of size on the offensive and defensive lines this year, but they're an inexperienced bunch comprised of many first-year starters.

""The skill players seem to have a lot more confidence this year," says Hurley, who's going into his seventh year at the helm.  "Some of those guys have a couple of years under their belt. The challenge will be we're gonna have to have some young guys and guys with not a whole lot of experience step up at the offensive and defensive line. But we've had strong leader ship all summer and we're excited to get things going."

Memorial opens up the year with Jasper on August 22.
