Meth House Registry Bill Moves Forward

Indiana bill to track properties related to meth activity moves forward in state legislature.
Update: House Bill 1141 passes the Indiana House 95-0 Monday. The measure will next go to the Senate.

Previous Story:

A new bill proposes a database to track properties connected with meth labs in Indiana.

House Bill 1141 was introduced by Representative Wendy McNamara. The measure would require the real estate commission to make a home owner disclose whether a property had been used to make meth.

Right now, state law says police must contact the health department to decontaminate a property, which McNamara says can be a lengthy process.
