After 5 years on the run, the lone female fugitive on the US Marshals 15 Most Wanted list is behind bars.
Acting on a tip, authorities arrested 43 year-old Janet Killough Barreto Tuesday, at an Oregon shopping mall. Authorities found her with her husband, Ramon.
The couple is accused of abusing their adopted children.
The Barretos allegedly traveled to Guatemala on multiple occasions to purchase children from a local adoption agency.
Authorities say the children were brought back to the US and were malnourished, physically abused, and forced to sleep on beds with plywood bottoms.
The abuse allegedly led to the death one of their adopted children, a 2 year-old girl.
