A hot and muggy day marked the beginning of college life as incoming freshmen moved into their dorms at the University of Evansville.
Today marks the start of welcome week at the University of Evansville. The steamy weather forced the school to move the yearly purple picnic indoors so students and families could take a break from the heat. University of Evansville President, Tom Kazee tells us it's important to be welcoming on one of the biggest days of any college student's life.

"My wife and I are going around campus with a golf cart with lemonade and water and giving it to the helpers, to the families, to help them deal with the heat", said Tom Kazee.

Kazee also said he doesn't think the heat will be discouraging for students but, instead create a memorable first day of college for many students.
