In Daviess County, Kentucky, we're learning about a new way you can get emergency alerts. The Emergency Management Agency is testing a new system using an app called "Ping4Alerts".

The app will push alerts to your phone or tablet if there's a severe weather event or any other kind of public safety concern. The app uses the location tracker inside the device to know when you should be alerted.

If you're more concerned about just severe weather threats, there's a section on the app you can go to that will send notifications from the National Weather Service.
