North Huskies Looking to Bounce Back in Szabo's Second Year

Coach Bret Szabo looks to improve on 2013's 3-8 finish.
The North Huskies were only a few good bounces from finishing the 2013 season with a 6-5 record. However, three losses by a combined nine points left North at 3-8.

The Huskies have focused the summer and fall practices on finishing games late in the fourth quarter. Senior back Chase Whitler says the off-season conditioning should help North late in games, and the second year under Szabo's system will shorten the learning curve considerably.

"I just think [its the] the level of understanding," says Szabo.  "Even with the coaches and all of the players, the level of understanding is certainly higher."

"A lot of games last year it came down to the final minutes and we just couldn't hang in there and finish," adds Whitler. "And that's really what we've focused on this year. We've got a lot better conditioning in and really in the that fourth quarter we're looking to finish off ball games."

North opens the year with Terre Haute South on the road August 22.
