Not as Much Traffic Backup on Twin Bridges Today

Inspections continue on the northbound side of the twin bridges.
Inspections continue on the northbound side of the twin bridges. But the good news is traffic isn't near as backed up as it was Monday.

The closed lane Monday caused a traffic back up so bad, one driver says it took him an hour to get from the U.S. 60 cloverleaf to the bridge.

While the lane restrictions can be frustrating to drivers, Keith Todd from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says it's a project that must be done.

"They're out there doing a very detailed inspection," said Todd. "We do this every two years. It's actually required by federal law. We have people say 'Why don't you put that off for awhile?' Well, some things can't be put off, and the inspection actually helps make sure everyone is safe."

The bridge inspections are expected to be completed later next week, weather permitting.
