A wanted man is in custody after leading Vanderburgh County Sheriff Deputies on a chase around 2 a.m. Saturday.
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office said deputies tried to pull over Charles Kasmer near the intersection of St. Joseph Avenue and Albert Avenue on Evansville’s west side. Instead of stopping, they said he led them on a chase to Grove Street near the Pigeon Creek levee. The sheriff’s office said Kasmer tried to run away after he crashed, but a deputy and K9 caught him.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies found 14.5 grams of meth and a BB gun in the car.
Kasmer is being held in the Vanderburgh County Jail without bond. He previously had a felony warrant for narcotics.
