Members of the Owensboro Professional Firefighters Union kicked off their "Fill the Boot" campaign at two Kroger stores today.

Organizers say they hope to raise more than $5,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Last year, the International Association of Firefighters raised $26 million for MDA nationwide.

"There are several families in our community that have kids going through this," said IAFF Local 870 Vice President Joey Wright. "It does hit close to home, so it's a good thing we do for our community."

The campaign continues at the Starlite Dr. and Frederica St. stores tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
