Owensboro city officials break ground on a road extension they say is the road to more business.

Southtown Blvd. is being extended from Carter Rd. through the Owensboro Air Park.

Mayor Ron Payne says the $900,000 project will help attract more businesses closer to the area and make for an easier commute for Air Park workers.

"One of the things we want to do is not only promote economic development," said Mayor Payne, "which we're full speed ahead doing that, but also be as business friendly as we can. So, all of those employees working down there are going to appreciate this road."

Payne says the road extension should be done by this Fall.
