City commissioners took comment after a first reading on the ordinance. If approved, it would ban smoking in all public places and on sidewalks close to outdoor restaurants.
"I don't have a problem not smoking where kids go," said Roxanne Sparks. "I have no problem whatsoever. But where adults are, you make a choice for it. If want to go in there, knowing there is smoking, then go. If you don't, then go to someplace else that does not smoke."
A vote on the public smoking ban could happen as soon as the next city commission meeting later this month.
