Reitz Rolls Through Harrison, South Spencer Tops Mater Dei in Sectional Softball

Panthers run-rule Warriors, Rebels blank Wildcats, move on in sectional play.
Sectional softball is underway in Indiana.  The Reitz Panthers showed serious strength at the plate, pushing fourteen runs across in just five innings to blank the Harrison Warriors 14-0.  The Panthers got things going early and often in this one. With the score already 2-0 in the top of the second inning, Reitz scored on three consecutive at bats with two outs before umpires stopped the game to let an isolated shower pass through the area. The rain didn't stop the Panther bats. Reitz would push across nine more runs to move on to the second round of sectional play.

The South Spencer Lady Rebels proved they can play with the big dogs Tuesday evening in Ferdinand.  South Spencer blanked Mater Dei in a pitchers duel 2-0. Those two runs came in the sixth inning to put the Rebs on top for good. South Spencer will go on to play North Posey Wednesday night at 5:30pm CST.  Game two will feature Pike Central and the Rangers of Forest Park. First pitch in the second game scheduled for 7:00pm CST.
