Same-Sex Marriage Benefits Stripped from Hoosier Couples

A major disappointment to same sex-couples in Indiana comes down today.
A major disappointment to same sex-couples in Indiana comes down today.

Marriage benefits are now being stripped from those who wed in the Hoosier state last month.

Hundreds of people got married shortly after a federal judge ruled the ban on gay marriage unconstitutional.

It's an order that was in effect for just three days, before a judge put the ruling on hold to allow the appeals process to play out.

Now Governor Mike Pence issues a memo saying the law against same sex marriages in his words, "Is in full force and effect and executive branch agencies are to execute their functions as though the US District Court order of June 25th had not been issued".

So in a nutshell, it's as though the gay marriages performed in that three-day window never happened.
