Eyewitness News learns overnight that Evansville City Council Attorney Scott Danks has stepped down as attorney for the City-County Observer. That's a website billing itself as a "watchdog" of Evansville and Vanderburgh County Government. City Council President John Friend tells us Danks stepped down Tuesday "effective immediately" as the C-C-O Attorney. This all goes back to that secret recording made by City Council Vice President Stephanie Brinkerhoff-Riley. She publicly confirmed Monday she taped a private meeting involving Evansville officials and Indiana State Auditors--discussing a 2012 audit of city finances.  Allegations have been made that Brinkerhoff-Riley distributed the recording to the City County Observer--prior to her public release of the recording on Monday. Friend tells Eyewitness News--Democratic council members will caucus later today...regarding the Brinkerhoff-Riley situation.
