Republican leader Mitch McConnell stops in western Kentucky. The topic of discussion was the importance of agriculture.

The long time Senator appeared at the Daviess County Lions Fairgrounds in Philpot. McConnell spoke to local agriculture leaders about the state of Kentucky's farms, and how much they would benefit if he gets a promotion come November.

McConnell would become the Senate Majority Leader if Republicans retake the Senate. As for agriculture, McConnell was optimistic but said the biggest problem is a familiar foe.

"Their biggest problem is Obamacare. Spiking premiums, deductibles, and co-payments like any other small business people they are being hit by Obamacare. But the Farm Bill, the new Farm Bill was a good bill and agriculture is going to have a pretty good year this year, generally speaking."

On the other side of the ballot, his opponent Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes is campaigning, bashing McConnell's record on agriculture.

Grimes said at a recent stop in Louisville says the senator has missed nearly every agriculture committee meeting in Washington. McConnell defended his record saying the duties of Minority Leader take precedence.
