Senate Fails to Pass Federal Minimum Wage Increase

The Senate fails to pass a bill that would raise the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour.
A major blow to President Obama's domestic agenda. The Senate fails to pass a bill that would raise the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour. Right now, the federal rate is $7.25.

The measure needed 60 votes to go up for debate but only got 54. Democrats are vowing to re-introduce the issue at another time.

Republicans voted against the bill, saying it would put a burden on small businesses and lead to layoffs.
