A major storm system ripped across a large part of the midwest packing high winds and large hail.

Storm chasers reported at least 8 unconfirmed tornado touchdowns Tuesday in Nebraska, Wyoming and one in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Near Omaha and Nebraska flooding from up to 4 inches of rain stranded motorists and triggered evacuations.

In Nebraska, they had hail as big as tennis balls slamming into houses shattering windows and pummelling cars and smashing through windshields.

More torrential rains expected today increasing the risk of flooding, but for motorists, they could unleash blinding downpours and the heightened risk of hydroplaning at speeds as low as 35 miles per hour.
