Suspect in Recent Evansville Shooting Arrested on East Side

A man wanted for allegedly shooting another man 7 times is now in police custody.
Evansville, IN.- A man wanted for attempted murder is arrested on the city's east side.

Lanico Payne, 24, of Evansville was arrested just after 11 AM,  Wednesday (March 12).

Payne is charged in the shooting of Demetrius Fingers. That shooting happened late Friday, March 7 on east Blackford Avenue. EPD told Eyewitness news Fingers was shot 7 times.

Indiana State Police, Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshal’s took Payne into custody in the Marathon gas station parking lot on Burkhardt and Virginia. He was taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail where he is being held without bond.
