Teen Charged with Attempted Murder in Stabbing

Evansville Police charge a 17-year-old with attempted murder with a Knife.
Evansville, Ind.- An investigation into an early morning knife attack leads to the arrest of a 17-year-old charged with Attempted Murder with a Knife.

The suspect, Claudia DeTalente, has been charged as an adult.

Emergency crews were called to the 800-block of E. Delaware after 4 AM for a report of a man bleeding heavily from his neck. Officers arrived and found 22-year-old Quaevion Emerson with a large cut wound on his neck.

Officers found a box cutter nearby that is believed to be the weapon that was used to cut Emreson.

While officers were on scene at the Delaware address, DeTalente arrived at the EPD West Sector Office a few blocks away.

She told an officer she was involved in the incident on Delaware. Based on Detalente’s statement to investigators and witness statements, Investigators believe DeTalente cut Emerson’s throat while he slept. She was detained and later taken to a hospital for an unrelated health matter.

DeTalente told investigators she was mad at Emerson because he was involved in a physical relationship with her girlfriend. DeTalente will be taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail upon her release from the hospital later this afternoon.

Emerson remains hospitalized. His current condition is not available.
