Tree Planted in Garvin Park

River City Bicycle Classic Donates a Tress to Garvin Park

Today is Earth Day, but Evansville area bicyclists also have arbor day on their minds. The River City Bicycle Classic donated a tree to Garvin Park that was planted today in honor of Arbor Day, which is this Friday, as a thank you gift.

The park hosts the River City Bicycle Classic races each year and is recognized for its dedication to promoting a healthy environment for the citizens of Evansville. Sonya Brindle, from the River City Bicycle Classic, says they chose a tree because it's going to be in the park forever and the first thing people from the bicycle race look for is a shady tree.

Evansville city Arborist Shawn Dickerson was there today to assist in planting the tree, which was placed on the north side of the youth baseball field for everyone to enjoy.
