The Ira Beumer murder trial is moving along quickly. Just two days in the prosecution rests its case.

Beumer is accused of catching a group of men breaking into his house in 2012, chasing them and crashing into them with his truck.

An accident investigator testified today data from Beumer's truck shows he was driving nearly 70 miles an hour while the suspects were going 23 miles an hour before the deadly crash.

He also told the court his findings show Beumer did not make an attempt to avoid the crash.

The defense put Beumer's wife on the stand and played a frantic voicemail she left her husband as he was being held at gunpoint in their bathroom.

The defense will call more witnesses tomorrow, but the judge expects the case to go to the jury by day's end.
