Tristate Catholics Observe Corpus Christi Sunday

The Catholic Diocese of Evansville observed Corpus Christi Sunday with a public processional.
The Catholic Diocese of Evansville observed Corpus Christi Sunday with a public procession celebrating the Eucharist.

About a hundred people walked Sunday afternoon from Christ the King to St. Benedict displaying the holy sacrament along the way.

Once at St. Benedict, Catholic faithful participated in prayers, silent worship and confession.

"Well I think Pope Francis has reminded us to go out to the periphere and today we are doing just that. We're taking something that is very sacred to us, that we celebrate here in church, and we're taking it out in the streets where Christ needs to be present," says Father Alex Zenthoefer.

The event wrapped up Sunday evening with a solemn benediction.
