Tristate High School Addresses Threat Rumors

Graffiti in a student bathroom has some worried about students' safety.
Some graffiti in a student bathroom has led to extra security at the Union County High School.

District officials posted this message to parents on its Facebook page as an explanation.
"A false rumor has been circulating about a shooting threat made at UCHS for Friday. Because the rumors have grown, we are taking extra precautionary measures for the safety of our students.
There was a behavior incident yesterday that is at the root of this rumor.

Here are the facts: On Monday and Tuesday of this week, there was graffiti found in
UCHS restrooms with inappropriate comments. Although offensive, the comments contained no threat of a shooting. A female student has admitted to the graffiti and has been removed from school.
Although the situation was swiftly addressed, rumors have grown regarding the incident. Because of this, school officials are taking precautionary measures by having the Union County Sheriff Department to provide extra security and additional personnel has been temporarily added at the school."

Again, this statement was issued by Union County Public School officials this afternoon.
