The investigation continues for two Indianapolis police officers involved in a murder suicide.

Investigators say the officer who killed his estranged wife then himself was under investigation.

Sergeant Ryan Anders broke into Officer Kim Carmack's home on April 17. Neighbors heard gunshots and called police.
Carmack, who had been with the department about 20 years, had a restraining order against her ex.

Detectives started a domestic violence investigation into Anders, a 9-year veteran, and put him on administrative leave.

They say he had even turned in his service weapon.
Domestic violence affects every community.

Statistics show at least three women die at the hands of a husband or boyfriend every day in the US.

Domestic violence is also the leading cause of injury to women, more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined.

It's also the number one concern of women surveyed by researchers at domesticviolencestatistics.org.
The effects of this type of abuse can last much longer than you may think..

Men who as children witnessed violence in the home are twice as likely to abuse their own wives in the future.
