Today is not just Friday for students at the University of Evansville. It's "Fast Friday." And it's the first event of its kind.

UE Engineering students displayed several special cars they designed and built. Among the collection, a super mileage car, one that's solar powered, and an off-road vehicle called the Baja buggy.

Organizer Rory Moran says the event is about showing off.

"Usually, we kind of just present our projects," said Moran, "and then we don't do anything with it basically. So. I decided to organize the event with the university to, so that we could actually just bring the cars out and shop them around to the community, just show what we do."

The event is free to the public.
