A tristate charity now has what it takes to make thousands of meals.
A tristate charity now has what it takes to make thousands of meals.

United Way's Spring Into Caring Food Drive collected nearly 50,000 pounds of food that will provides nearly 40,000 meals for the Tri-State Food Bank.

Volunteers donated 170 hours to United Way and the Tri-State Food Bank to help prepare for distribution to pantries.

United Way’s 211 Information and Referral Service connects people to the help they need.

Director of Community Resources Sara Murray says the 211 service receives more calls during the summer months.   She suggests that might be because more school-aged children who would normally be on free or reduced lunch programs are no longer in school.
