"Hope of Evansville" was awarded the first grant from the United Way of Southwestern Indiana's recently created endowment. They presented “Hope” with a $35,000 check on Wednesday for its transitional housing program, "Hope Hall."
Executive Director Thomas Coe says "Hope Hall" aims to provide a 2nd chance for those coming out of the corrections system.
He says the purpose of the program is to encourage independence and promote self sufficiency for these individuals that are coming out of prison. Also, to try and reintegrate former prisoners into our communities again.
The United Way of Southwestern Indiana created the endowment back in 2012.
