UPDATE: Man Drowns in Ohio River Early This Morning

Rescue personnel were called out around 1:00 this morning about a man in Evansville who had fallen into the river and hadn't resurfaced.

The person who fell from a boat docked at NuPlaza Yacht Club has been identified as Ernest Weaver, age 52, of Newburgh. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday).


Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office - On Saturday, July 12, 2014 at approximately 1:00am Central Dispatch (911) received a report that a man had fallen into the Ohio River at the Nu Plaza Yacht Club on Old Henderson Road. The caller reported that the man had not yet resurfaced.

Sheriff’s deputies and water rescue personnel responded to the scene and began search and rescue operations. At approximately 4:30am, water rescue personnel from Perry Township Fire Dept. and Marrs Township Fire Department (Posey County) were able to locate the body a short distance downstream.

The name of the deceased is being withheld from release at this time pending the notification of the decedent’s family.
