Upgrade Tip of the Week, Quench Your Thirst With More H2O

In this week's Upgrade tip, a campaign that we've joined in conjunction with the Welborn Baptist Foundation, we're talking drinks, and nothing is more healthier than H2O. While the sugary and caffeinated drinks are popular and may give you that mid-day or mid-morning pick-up, it's always a good idea to get the refreshing quench of water in your system.
We hear more about its importance from our friends at the Children Museum of Evansville. More than 70 percent of Earth is covered by water, and almost that same number is true for the amount of H2O that's in our bodies. "The museum is kind of in a unique position, we can target everybody from children that we serve as well as adults and staff," says CMOE Executive Director Stephanie Terry, who knows about the importance of water and says everyone here is doing their part. "We've encouraged people to drink water and even in our summer camps that's all we serve is water." When health officials say water is imperative, they're talking about all age groups, but who may be most attracted to sugary drinks...our young ones. "I think really its beneficial for our overall culture around promoting health and wellness for children" Terry shares. If adults are choosing high calorie drinks, kids may want to follow, so CMOE wants you to consider the next generation. "By the age of three, a child's brain is already pretty fully developed, so its instrumental that at early ages we are allowing kids to develop some of these critical skills because what they're doing right now, while they're playing at CMOE, they're preparing for a future life." Take it slow, if you're not getting eight glasses, start subtracting one sugary drink at a time, and hopefully you'll lead by example. Now we've hydrated your minds with a few simple tips to Upgrade to a better you.
