Vincennes University students are rallying to stop violence. The group "Stop the Beef, Promote the Peace" held an anti-violence rally this afternoon.

Students released balloons written with names of shooting and stabbing victims to honor their lives and show others violence isn't the answer.

"I've lost two cousins, who were both females, and who were both shot to death," said VU Sophomore Jordan Carter. "And I lost my best friend last year. He was shot four times. His name was Chris Green. It's been one year since he died. He had a kid on the way, and now his kid has to grow without a father."

Organizers say more than 200 people attended a similar event earlier this year at VU.
