Water Safety Tips Around the House

Jennifer Chappell shared important safety advice when it comes to kids being around water around the house and outside.
Don’t Leave Kids Alone in or Around Water

Never leave child unattended around water
Put cell phones away
Immediately empty inflatable and pools.
Teach kids to never swim alone
Don’t let kids dive into water less than nine feet deep
Don’t let kids dive into natural bodies of water

Remove Water From Tubs and Buckets After Use

Drain tub immediately
Store containers upside down
A bath seat and ring doesn’t keep a child from drowning

Close Lids and Doors

Keep toilet lids closed
Keep doors to bedroom and laundry rooms closed
Never leave a gate to the pool open
Teach child to stay away from drains

Learn CPR

Drowning is the leading cause of injury-related death among children between 1 and 4 yrs old. It’s the 3rd leading cause of death among children.
