The Wheeler Neighborhood Association is looking into potentially installing cameras on some light poles in the next few years.

President Charleen Williamson said she’d like cameras in the area by the time the IU Med School is complete. She said a resident researched prices and found each camera would cost about a thousand dollars. However, she said EPD told her the neighborhood’s amount of crime would not qualify them for any financial help.

Williamson said she’s mostly heard positive reviews, but some residents told Eyewitness News they do not see a need for the cameras.

The Wheeler Neighborhood Association meets on the third Thursday of every month. Williamson said the cameras will likely be a topic of conversation at the next meeting.
