Winnecke Shows Off River City To LST-325 Board Members

The LST-325 board is deciding if they would like the ship to stay in Evansville or relocate to Peoria, Ill.

Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke showed off the River City’s present and potential Thursday morning to visiting members of the LST-325 board.

The board is deciding if they would like the ship to stay in Evansville or relocate to Peoria, Ill.

Winnecke hoped the board would vote Saturday on a proposed five-year contract with an option to renew for five additional years, but board members want a final offer from Peoria before voting.

Board members expressed concerns about low attendance numbers and the location of the ship. Winnecke said the city may be able to relocate the vessel to the slot where the river boat now sits if land-based gambling is legalized in Indiana, but that may not be for several years.

There is a LST-325 board meeting open to the public on Saturday morning.
