According to a police affidavit, Michelle Hershberger said she set the curtains in her room on fire with a lighter.
Hershberger claims the voices in her head told her to do it and she wanted to die.
She was under the care of ResCare in the apartment, and a staff member discovered the fire.
ResCare offers residential and support services to people with disabilities.
Crews were called to the scene just off of Green River Road after 8:30 Wednesday night.
It took more than 4 hours to get that fire under control.
