It'll take a few more weeks to finish, but the mural project on North Main in Evansville is already taking shape.

Volunteers have been putting in a lot of work over the last couple of days. They're helping artist Artur Silvia paint the mural. He was commissioned by Echo Housing to do all this.

The design was inspired by fabric samples from all over the city. Leanne Pease is active in several Jacobsville Community Organizations, but came out to the mural as a volunteer.

"When you get yours hands in it and you do it yourself...Even if it's just one little stroke of paint, you take ownership of it you're like 'hey I helped out with that' and then it helps out with the community, gets other people involved."

The weather has been so nice, volunteers are taking advantage of that. Some of them worked until midnight last night.
