Members of the American Baptist East Youth Group collected more than $300 during their "Penny War" fundraiser.

They've used the money to buy teddy bears for those who may have recently lost a loved one.

"We wanted to do it," said Chloe Burgdorf, "so we could give back and show that there are people who care, that want to give back and help families.

"I was one of the kids," said Meagan Leibfried. "I had two brothers that didn't make it before I finally had a brother. Honestly, this would have been a wonderful thing to have had."

And the youth director at the church says he is very proud of how many children took part of the fundraiser, noting the impact each one can make in the community.
