Many of us have seen Star Trek Into Darkness, True Blood or Dawn of the Dead, but did you know a tri-stater's hands are the ones transforming some of those actors? Dave Snyder grew up in Owensboro but now lives in California working on TV and films as a special effects artist, but he's taking time off to come back home. Snyder is teaching two lectures this weekend, helping you get ready for Halloween. The make-up tools are his paint brushes, faces are his canvas. With a deadline and some equipment, Dave Snyder can transform anyone...like this guy you may already know."Jackie Chan, we got to go to China and do an old age make-up on him for a film called Forbidden Kingdom and he was wonderful, Jackie is an absolute pro." This Kentucky native is the jack of all trades, working on Sharon Stone to even the Geico Caveman, he tells us "I do everything from life-casting which is basically making a copy of your face or your entire body or your hand or your foot to sculpting to painting to applying make-up to designing effects." He's back home for a little while to share his tricks with tri-staters. "We're going to do a Zombie demo and show how to get weird wrinkled skin and maybe a big bite wound, that kind of thing..some blood.," Snyder describes. There's passion in his craft, Snyder says he couldn't picture doing anything else, "I've always thought if I can keep my hands and my eyes all my life...if I were to lose a leg, I wouldn't like it but I can deal with that pretty easily. But if I were to lose my hands or my vision, I wouldn't be able to do what I do for a living anymore." With a few brushes and a ball of wax, it's Snyder's imagination that leads the way. If you're interested in attending Dave Snyder's demonstrations, they will be at the northwest kentucky forward entrepreneurial center in Henderson..
