Opponents and supporters of the proposed downtown Evansville hotel project have taken to social media to express their views.
The “Citizens of Evansville Against a Taxpayer Hotel” Facebook page was created on August 14. It has more than 700 likes.
“I don’t have the money to put up a billboard,” said Phillip Schulz, an administrator of the page. “I don’t have the money to drive around, or the time to drive around, and be handing out petitions left and right. I don’t have a union behind me that has a mass distribution list.”
Phyllip Davis is the administrator of the “Citizens of Evansville For Progress on the Convention Hotel Development” Facebook page. It was created on August 20.
“Knowledge is key with this project,” Davis said.
