Evansville may build a new skate park as part of Roberts Park. Tentative plans for Roberts Park were recently revealed showing space for a skate park on the blue prints. Many skateboarders and BMXers tell us they hope the city will go through with those plans. There is currently one city skate park in Lamasco Park, but many who use it say it's in poor condition. There is graffiti, cracks, and standing water.
Glenn Davidson owns a skate park and has been working with the city on planning the design. Davidson thinks a new skate park would bring more tourists to Evansville.
"The city of Louisville has a very very large skate park there and on any given day you can go down there, it's a free concrete park, and you can see close to anywhere from probably 200 to 500 people throughout the day and a lot of those people don't live in Louisville," said Glenn Davidson.
A spokesperson for the Evansville mayor's office says plans are still in the conceptual stage, and it is too early to tell what the skate park will look like, or even if it will be included in the final plans.
