The government began phasing out the bulbs in 2010, starting with the 100 and 75 watt bulbs.

But as of now, the popular 60 and 40 watt bulbs are also going away.  

It's all part of a 2007 law that raised minimum efficiency standards for bulbs beyond what the incandescent technology can manage.
