EPD Believes Early Morning Shootings are Related

Relatives say 25-year-old Angie Mueller is six months pregnant, and despite being shot on in the stomach this morning, she and her baby are doing okay.
"I was laying in bed upstairs and all of a sudden I just hear kind of semi rapid succession of gunfire just pop,pop,pop-pop,pop,pop-pop,pop,pop-pop,pop,pop,pop. I mean it just kept going on and on and it sound like they emptied the clip before they made off or something. There were a good dozen shots at least." David Murr was next door when police say Mark Baughn was shot in the leg and Angie Mueller was shot in the stomach.

What makes this especially unsettling is relatives say Angie is six months pregnant. "If she was and there was some injury to the fetus or she lost the pregnancy that's something we would also add to our criminal investigation," said Sgt. Jason Cullum with the Evansville Police Department.
Relatives say mother and baby are ok.

Minutes after the Oregon Street shooting police responded to another shooting on Morton Avenue. "We believe that the Morton Avenue shooting was probably retaliation for the Oregon shooting," said Sgt. Cullum. Police say a five year old was inside the home at the time of the shooting. An escalation of violence that police believe to be gang related. "It continues to grow. When we first really started talking about this three or four years ago a lot of people didn't want to acknowledge that they were here, or that is was going to be as big a problem as it is today, but it is," said Sgt. Cullum.
For Angie Mueller this isn't the first time she has been wrapped up in the law. Last year she was a key witness against her brother in the murder of Cedric Watt. "She was involved with the Cedric Watt trial, and again we encourage people to make choices to try to have the best life possible, and unfortunetly for this young lady she seems to be struggling with making those positive choices," said Sgt. Cullum.
Police say no arrests have been made yet. Anyone with information about these events is asked to call the WeTip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME
